Mental Health First Aid

Now more than ever its important to consider the Wellbeing of your workforce

Its becoming more and more widely recognised that the mental health of your workforce is as important as their physical health

This powerful course is designed to equip delegates with the tools to recognise signs and symptoms of change in friends, family and colleagues.

As part of the drive to put the health into Health and Safety, Hedges Safety and Wellbeing is proud to be able to offer the Mental Health First Aid England two- day training programme.

This accredited programme qualifies attendees as mental health first aiders and equip them with the following skills;

  • An in depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support – whether that’s self-help resources, through their employer, the NHS, or a mix.

With issues such as stigma and discrimination now in the forefront of public attention, it is increasingly important that managers, supervisors and colleagues are equipped to recognise the signs of distress as early as possible and able to step in and support colleagues.

Another increasingly concerning area of mental health is depression. Although there are many causes of depression, increased instability in the construction sector and greater financial pressure than ever before have driven it to the forefront of the industry, affecting more and more individuals and highlighting the need to train people not just to recognise symptoms and risk factors for depression but also to understand approaches to crisis.

The two day course provided by Hedges Safety and Wellbeing will cover all of this and more, helping your organisation to set a new benchmark in its approach to employee health and safety in the modern age and ultimately reduce the risks associated with mental health issues in the workplace through education and awareness. The course promises to be thought-provoking and practical, and will leave participants with a real understanding and knowledge of the topic of mental health.

We also offer a bespoke half day mental health awareness course.
